Adair County Fiscal Court holds first 2020 meeting By Linda Waggener The Adair County Fiscal Court met in Regular Session Tuesday, January 14, 2020 with Magistrate Billy Coffey presiding in the absence of ACJE Gale Cowan who was out due to sickness. In addition to reports approved, District 2 Magistrate Daryl Flatt made a plea to every Adair Countian to make sure they get counted in the upcoming Census campaign. The Census, taken once each decade, is our chance to inform how billions of dollars in funding get allocated for critical public services like health care, schools, roads and bridges, and emergency response for the next 10 years. The Census is currently in the "Awareness/Education Phase" now through March 12, 2020. After that, the participation phase continues through May 20, 2020. Citizens can get more details on the website below, at the local library and in media. Click here to find out about jobs available during the 2020 Census season. Approval given for 2020 Fiscal Court Committees: Personnel committee: Terry Hadley and Greg Caldwell. Budget committee: Chris Reeder and Daryl Flatt. Solid waste/nuisance committee: Billy Coffey and Daryl Flatt. Jail committee: Sammy Baker and Chris Reeder. Safety committee: Terry Hadley and Harold Burton. NCIC board: Sammy Baker. Health board: Billy Coffey. Parks and rec board: Greg Caldwell. Meeting times of these committees will be advertised in advance. Meetings will be at least once per quarter or as needed. Magistrates granted Permission for Judge Cowan to Set Date for Surplus Auction/Auctioneer. They also approved Work Comp/Liability Insurance renewal with KACO. Fiscal Court meets twice monthly, on the "Second Tuesday" at 6pmCT, and on each "Last Tuesday" of the Month at 4pmCT.
