William (Billy) Murrell, 84, Columbia, KY (1935-2019) William "Billy" Murrell of Columbia passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN. He was 84 years old. The funeral service for Billy will be held at 1pmCT on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. Terry White and Bro. John Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Haven Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:30pmCT until 8pmCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. He was born April 19, 1935, in Adair County, Kentucky, to the late James and Mattie Beard Murrell. Billy was a member of Columbia Christian Church serving as a usher for many years and a former deacon at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church. He was a farmer and veteran serving in the U. S. Army. Billy is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Rita Rucker Murrell; a daughter Valerie Adams (Dean) of Columbia; two sons Richard Murrell (Garnetta) of Campbellsville and Randal Murrell (Jamie) of Columbia. He also leaves eight grandchildren Daniel Adams (Ashley), Darren Adams (Lori), Devon Jett (Jimmy), Morgan Larkin (Clay), MaKenzie Murrell, Myles Murrell, Meredith Massengale (Jackson), and Madelyn Boyles (Andrew) and five great grandchildren Mason Adams, Lilly Adams, Paisley Adams, Anderson Jett and Ethan Jett. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Martha Brockman. Pallbearers will be Daniel Adams, Darren Adams, Myles Murrell, Jackson Massengale, Andrew Boyles and Clay Larkin. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Columbia Christian Church @ 206 Campbellsville St., Columbia, KY 42728 or Lindsey Wilson College Non-Traditional Student Endowment Fund @ 210 Lindsey Wilson St., Columbia, KY 42728.
