Jimmie Smith, 76, Cumberland County, KY (1942-2019)

James Neal "Jimmie" Smith, of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at his home, having attained the age of 76 years, 11 months and 11 days.

The funeral service will be conducted on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 1pmCT in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Rev. Lanny Garner and Rev. William Herndon officiating. Burial will be in the Burkesville Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 3pm on Thursday, October 17, 2019, until the funeral hour on Friday.



He was born in Louisville, Kentucky on Thursday, November 5, 1942 the son of the late Finis P. and Norma Louise (Jesse) Smith. He was a member of The Highland Chapel United Methodist Church, Graduated from Cumberland County High School, (class of 1961), a sewing machine mechanic, having worked at Bob Evans. After retiring he worked at IGA grocery in Burkesville.

He is survived by his wife, Lillie (Anderson) Smith whom he wed on July 1, 1961, his children, Cindy (and Jim) Brewington of Burkesville, Kentucky, Terri (and B.J.) Svajgl of Gainesville, Georgia, Karen (and Phillip) Lee of Burkesville, Kentucky, Dr. Jimmy Shaun (and Becky) Smith of Columbus, Ohio, brother, Benny Hugh (and Brenda) Smith of Burkesville, Kentucky, Grandchildren, Corey (and Codi) Murphy, Sloane (and Sarah) Lee, Kelsie (and Josh) Cooksey, Ross Walker, Megan Brewington, Geoffrey Smith, Andy Smith and Mary Claire Smith, Great-grandchildren, Curtis Cooksey, Travis Cooksey, Cara Beth Murphy, Etta Rose Lee, Weston Cooksey and Arlin Lee.

Memorials may be made to the Warrior-Weston-Wins Fund in his memory. Norris-New Funeral Home in Burkesville, Kentucky is honored to be in charge of all the arrangements.
