Henry J. (Sonny) Aaron, 97, Russell Springs, KY (1922-2019)

Henry J. "Sonny" Aaron of Russell Springs died Monday, August 12, 2019 at his residence. He was 97 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 10amCT on Friday, August 16, 2019 at Bernard Ridge Church of God, 170 Stephens Ridge Rd, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Lindsey Cornett, Bro. Billy Dunbar, Bro. Johnny Dunbar officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernard Cemetery.

Visitation is requested from 5pmCT until 8pmCT on Thursday at the Bernard Ridge Church of God, and from 8amCT on Friday until funeral time at 10amCT.


He was born March 6, 1922 in Russell County.

He was a farmer and a member of Bernard Ridge Church of God.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Morgan and five sisters and seven brothers.

Survivors include:
  • His wife, Betty Lawless Aaron, Russell Springs
  • Five children, Vivian (Wayne) Harper, Glasgow, Ky, Youlanda Sue (Leland) Call, Beech Grove, IN, Jackie (Sue) Aaron, Russell Springs, Jeffrey Aaron, Russell Springs, and Ruth Ann (Jack) Hopkins, Shelbyville, Ky
  • Eleven grandchildren
  • Ten great grandchildren
  • Two great great grandchildren
  • Four step children, Sandy (Mike) Bunch, Jamestown, Donna (David) Thompson, Noblesville, IN, David (Sherry) Lawless, Russell Springs, and Ronnie (Pam) Lawless, Jamestown,
  • Six step granchildren
  • Three half sisters
Active Pallbearers: Paul Aaron, Joe Aaron, Bruce Aaron, Faye Cook, Jamie Aaron, Chad Aaron.

Honorary Pallbearers: Harold Aaron, John Emerson, Sovel Emerson, Butch Coffey, Abe Coffey, Jared Lee.
