Stanley Johnson, 64, Columbia, KY (1955-2019)

Stanley was a member of First Baptist Church where he served on the usher board. He was a former employee of Taylor County R.E.C.C. and a longtime construction worker.

Stanley Johnson of Columbia, Kentucky passed away on Friday, June 21, 2019 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green. He was 64 years old.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019, at 11amCT at First Baptist Church, 847 Burkesville Street, Columbia, KY, with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation is on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 5pmCT until 8pmCT at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home. Visitation on Saturday, June 29, 2019 is from 6amCT until 8:30amCT at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home and from 9amCT until the service time at 11amCT at First Baptist Church.


Stanley was born on February 06, 1955 in Adair County, Kentucky to the late Stanley Broddus Johnson and Emma Leen Jones Johnson.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Roberta Lipscomb, Phyllis Newby, and Emma Lee Barnett.

Stanley was a member of First Baptist Church where he served on the usher board. He was a former employee of Taylor County R.E.C.C. and a longtime construction worker.

Survivors Include:

  • His wife of 20 years, Marlene Staton Johnson of Columbia, KY
  • Two Sons- Michael Thompson of Louisville, KY, and Darius Staton of Columbia, KY
  • One Daughter- Tanja Staton of Lexington, KY
  • Two Grandchildren- Jordan Kilcoyne and Lillian Grace Marshall
  • Three Sisters- Linda(Steve)Newell of Lexington, KY, Kay Newell of Somerset, KY, and Kathren Jones of Monticello, KY
  • One Brother- Maurice Shelby of Indianapolis, IN
  • One Brother-in-law- Marshall Newby of Russell Springs, KY
  • Four Sisters-in-law- Fern Hughes and Becky(Dwight)Taylor of Columbia, KY, Teresa Igo of El Paso, TX, and Paulette Lasley of Campbellsville, KY
  • A host of other relatives and friends
