Cordell Coomer, 85, Adair Co., KY (1934-2019)

Cordell was a member of Tarter's Chapel United Methodist Church and a retired sales clerk at Jeffries Hardware after many years of service.

Cordell Coomer of the Portland Community of Adair County, died Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the T.J. Health Columbia Emergency Room. He was 85 years old.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Herbert Janes, Bro. David Kemp & Bro. Rod Wally officiating. Burial will follow in Tarter's Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 5pmCT on Thursday, June 20, 2019.


He was born January 25, 1934 in Adair County to the late Hollis & Bertie Brown Coomer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Leava Dean Beard Coomer in 2015, and one brother, Carl Coomer.

Cordell was a member of Tarter's Chapel United Methodist Church and a retired sales clerk at Jeffries Hardware after many years of service.

Survivors Include:
  • One Son, Randy "Boone" Coomer & his wife Lisa of Portland
  • One Grandson, Adam Coomer & his wife Tara of Columbia
  • One Great-Grandson, Max Coomer
  • One Sister, Ineze Blythe & her husband Dan of Columbia
  • One Sister-in-law, Sylvia Coomer of Columbia
  • Several other relatives & friends also survive
Casket Bearers: Adam Coomer, Rodney Blythe, Mike Sexton, Troy Keltner, Millard Keltner, and Steve "Cotton" Smith.
