New international student orientation

by Sabine Eastham, Director of the International Student Programs

International students gathered at the International Student Programs (ISP) House on Lindsey Wilson Street on Wednesday for their new student orientation. Bryson Jones, Assistant Director of ISP, conducted a fun icebreaker activity. To start, students wrote three to five facts about themselves on a piece of paper. Then they put their creativity to work by folding that paper into a paper airplane. On Bryson's count, everyone flew their planes toward the middle of the room. Then students picked up a plane that landed near them and took turns reading the facts written on the plane and trying to guess whose it was.

Icebreakers are a gentle fun way to ensure students get to know one another in a relaxed athmosphere and that ALL students will talk to one another in this still strange foreign language.
