Windy, warm and rainy, with a chance of thunderstorms

It's currently 54F at the Adair County Mesonet station. Expect showers and thunderstorms today as a strong low pressure system moves northward through the area. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. High near 67F.

South wind 9 to 14 mph will increase to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon, and winds could gust as high as 45 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible. This rainfall could result in localized flooding and rises on area creeks and streams.

Showers remain likely tonight, mainly before 10pmCT. Cloudy, with a low around 45F. Southwest wind 13 to 18 mph becoming west 6 to 11 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

New Year's Day should bring a chance of drizzle, and just slightly cooler temperatures. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49F, and northwest wind around 6 mph.
