LWC's International students ring In the holiday season Story courtesy of Lochinvar Sloan Two of our ISP best followed the call from Natalie Vickous, Director of Civic Engagement & Student Leadership and Bonner Program Director and the new Kettle Chair for the Salvation Army located here in Columbia to ring a kettle. On Thursday, December 13, 2018, Lochinvar Sloan from New Market, VA, and Yukiho Yoshimitsu from Tokyo, Japan, were able to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the end of the semester and spread a little Christmas cheer, wishing folks a Merry Christmas in different languages. "I'm just really glad I had this opportunity to give back to the community", says Lochinvar. And Yukiho shared this with us: "I could feel the warmth of people throughout this Volunteer work. We said hello to people who came or left to Walmart. They responded us, and spoke to us. I could learn a new phrase. It is 'God bless you.' (Loch said this.) When I said this to people who donated, they became smiley. This phrase is wonderful. This donation will help strangers. In other words, they can make strangers - people who need help, happy. I hope we could make donors happy too." This story was posted on 2018-12-18 05:44:40
