Archive Photo: Famous mules owned by partners Aaron and Parnell

1997-10-31 - Louisville, KY - Photo from the partners
THEY JUST KEEP GETTING FAMOUSER and FAMOUSER. Anak and Apollo, the two largest mules in the world, have been getting a lot of ink lately. On October 22, they were featured in the Neighborhoods section of the Courier-Journal. Then, this week the same story in the C-J was printed for folks here in the hinterlands. That's Adair Countian Allan Mercer Parnell between them, who, with wife Bunny Parnell, is a partner of Adair Countian Dr. Steve Aaron in the ownership of the mules. The mules are already in the Guiness Book of World Records. The mules are boarded in Bullitt County at Barley Creek Christian Riding Center off KY 245. Apollo stands 19.1 hands; Anak is 18.3 hands tall. This item first appeared in Issue 17 of the print edition of Columbia! Magazine. - Ed Waggener
