Carlotta Sue Sanders Davis-Mayes, Taylor Co., KY (1951-2017)

She served her family faithfully as a homemaker prior to her illness and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was a native of Liberty, KY, and a resident of Campbellsville, KY at the time of her death in Elizabethtown, KY. She was the daughter of the late Charles Christopher & Mary Margie Wethington Sanders. Her husband, Howard Mayes, survives. She leaves 41 direct and three step living descendants. Her final resting place will be in Clementsville, Casey County, KY.

Carlotta Sue Sanders Davis-Mayes, 66, of Campbellsville, KY, died Thursday at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY.

The funeral service for Carlotta will be held at 12pmCT/1pmET, on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home, 503 E Main Street, Campbellsville, KY, with Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery, by St. Bernard Catholic Church, 5075 S KY 551, Clementsville, KY with pallbearers being Darien Bishop, Cade Sanders, Joseph Bagby, Cody Wheatley, K.C. Davis, Milton Buckner, Gabriel Carter, Jeff Monday and Chris Sanders. Honorary bearers are Phyllis Sanders, Catherine Mayes and Sheila Underwood. Family request visitation 1pm-6pmCT/2pm-7pmET on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Lyon-DeWitt-Berry Funeral Home.

Carlotta was born on January 3, 1951, in Liberty, Casey County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Charles Christopher & Mary Margie Wethington Sanders. She died Thursday, September 28, 2017, in Elizabethtown, Hardin County, KY, at the age of 66 years, eight months, and 25 days. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by three sisters, Marketta Ann Morris, Monica Lee Sanders and Phyllis Lee Wethington; as well as two grandchildren and one step-daughter, DeAnna Ramsey.

She served her family faithfully as a homemaker prior to her illness and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

She is survived by:
  • Her husband: Howard Mayes of Campbellsville, KY

  • One son and three daughters: Dennis and Tiffany Davis of Campbellsville, KY; Cheryl Sanders and David Stayton of Bonnieville, KY; Amanda Davis and Junior Richards of Campbellsville, KY, and Stephanie Davis and Paul Rucker of Bowling Green, KY

  • Step-children: Keith and Carol Mayes of Campbellsville, KY; Mandy Workman of Illinois' and Billy Mayes of LaGrange, KY

  • Twenty-five grandchildren

  • Twelve great-grandchildren

  • Her siblings: Charles and Phyllis Sanders of Georgetown, KY; Ronnie and Judy Sanders, Donna and Paul Kistler, and Connie and Gary Summers all of Florida; Sonja and Dennis Thompson of New Haven, KY; and Margo Sanders of Campbellsville, KY
