David Phelps, 65, Yosemite, KY (1950-2016)

He was a construction superintendent and a farmer. David was a member of the Willow Springs United Methodist Church. He was a Casey County Magistrate for District 3 from 2006-2014 and member of the Willow Springs Cemetery Board.He was the widower of the Elaine Salyers Phelps. He leaves six direct living descendants.

David Phelps of Yosemite, KY passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington, KY. He was 65.

Funeral services are 10amCT/11amET, Saturday, June 11, 2016 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home, 752 Campbellsville Street, Liberty, KY, with Bro. Johnny Maupin officiating. Mr. David Phelps will be laid to rest in Willow Springs Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, June 10, 2016 from 5pm-8pmCT/6pm-9pmET, at the funeral home and Saturday from 7amCT/8amET, until funeral service.


David Phelps, Yosemite, KY (1950-2016)


Born October 7, 1950 in Casey County, KY, he was the son of the late Leslie Bernal Phelps and Marie Black Phelps. He died Tuesday, June 7, 2016, in Lexington, Fayette County, KY, at the age of 65 years, eight months.

He was a construction superintendent and a farmer. David was a member of the Willow Springs United Methodist Church. He was a Casey County Magistrate for District 3 from 2006-2014 and member of the Willow Springs Cemetery Board. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elaine Salyers Phelps, who died March 8, 2016; two grandchildren, Davy Phelps and Whitney Wethington ; a brother, Roger William Phelps; and a sister, Nancy Louise Phelps.

Survivors include:
  • A son: Shannon Phelps of Yosemite, KY

  • A daughter: Sharon (and Greg) Wethington, of Liberty, KY

  • Three grandchildren: Ryan (and Brittany) Wethington; Shanna Phelps, and Matthew Wethington

  • And a great-grandchild: Blakely Wethington
