William Lawrence Barber, Jr. Burkesville, KY (1940-2012)

He was the patriarch of a highly regarded Cumberland County, KY family. He leaves five direct living descendants. He was a Christian, a Real Estate liquidator in Florida, a Farmer, and a merchant at the Lake Cumberland Flea Market in Somerset, Kentucky.

William Lawrence "Larry" Barber, Jr., age 71, of Burkesville, Ky. passed away on Thursday September 27, 2012, at the Wayne County Hospital in Monticello, KY.

The celebration of life service for "Larry" will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 11amCT, at the Liberty United Methodist Church in Burkesville. A private committal was in the Liberty Cemetery.

He was born on Monday, October 7, 1940 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, the son of William Lawrence "Bill" and Ida Shaw Applewhite Barber. He died Thursday, September 27, 2012, in Monticello, Wayne County, KY, at the age of 71 years, 11 months, and 21 days.

He was a Christian, a Real Estate liquidator in Florida, a Farmer, and a merchant at the Lake Cumberland Flea Market in Somerset, Kentucky.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Barber and sister, Ida May Barber Summers

Survivors include his wife, Mary Celeste Henry Barber of Burkesville, Kentucky, and the following:
  • Sons: William L. "Bill" Barber, III of Honolulu, Hawaii and Edward "Ed" Barber of Detroit, Michigan

  • Sister: Amy Barber of Tampa, Florida

  • Grandchildren: Kyle Barber, Lindsey Barber and Edward "Ed" Barber
