One of the most popular items at the Community Garden stand at FM2 Saturday, September 16, 2017, were the Ground Cherries. Dr. Mike Bosela told inquiring visitor new to ground cherries that for many people they are an acquired taste, and that most, on initial tasting, either like them or have an adverse reaction. We found them delightful, and neat to eat once one gets the hang of it, learning how easy it is the squeeze the husks, expel the glistening fruit, and consume. There's also the same satisfaction one gets from creating a biogradable pile of husks, similar to the pleasure of creating pistachio shells or crawdad shells. Three year old Piper Renfro sampled them, like the taste, and enjoyed another.
