Travel: Fort Worth Historic Distrct

In the late 1800s, Fort Worth was a vital stop on the Chisholm Trail. In 1976, the North Fort Worth Historical Society was founded to preserve Fort Worth's livestock heritage. Today, the Fort Worth National Historic District showcases daily cattle drives, artisan bootmakers and immersive Western experiences, centered around the historic Fort Worth Stockyards. Veterans banners are hung throughout downtown Columbia in honor of those who have served from our community. These two are located on Greensburg Street: George Kenneth Staton and Roger E. Burton, both US Army soldiers.

Pack of dogs dumped, killing chickens

Four of the pack of twelve dogs dumped at the scenic Sam Coffey Hole where Big Clifty Creek feeds into Russell Creek in Adair County. They have killed animals and one bit the farm owner trying to trap it.
