Rain began Tuesday afternoon

2025-09-02 - Adair County, KY - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com
I found Tuesday's rain in Montpelier near the Adair/Russell County line. At first there were just a few light drops, then it began in earnest. I cheered and realized we've been so long without rain, I'd almost forgotten the sound of big raindrops plopping on the Metal car roof. I drove toward Columbia wondering if it would be merely a passing downpour or if it might stay around to bring the plants and trees back to life. Thankfully, rain continued all afternoon and there may be more over the next two days. - LW
