He was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville and also a farmer. He loved his farm and was an avid gardener. He was the patriarch of a highly regarded Taylor County, KY family, the son of the late Harry Gilpin and Gladys Sullivan Gilpin. His wife, Peggy Wilcoxson Gilpin, survives. He leaves nine direct living descendants.
