Sherfield Thomas DeSpain, 76, Green County, KY (1941-2017)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ, was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church and was a lifelong farmer. He was a native of Green County, KY, and a member of a leading South Central Kentucky family. He was the son of the late Boyd Thomas DeSpain & Mary Violet Carter DeSpain Milby, and the widower of Zenith Wynez Berry DeSpain. He leaves 17 direct living descendants.

Mr. Sherfield Thomas DeSpain of Greensburg, KY, departed this life on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at his home.

The funeral services for Mr. Sherfield Thomas DeSpain will be conducted at 1pmCT, Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Wilson Cemetery, Montgomery Mill Road, Summersville, KY. Bro. Dale Curry officiating.

Visitation was 4pm-8pmCT, Saturday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and will be after 7amCT, Sunday until time of the funeral service.



Pallbearers: Wesley DeSpain, Jeremy DeSpain, Jacob DeSpain, Thomas DeSpain, Dakota Smith, B.J. Farmer, Bethanne DeSpain, and Quindolyn Judd

Mr. Sherfield Thomas DeSpain was the son of the late Boyd Thomas DeSpain & Mary Violet Carter DeSpain Milby, was born on Monday, January 13, 1941 in Green County, KY, and departed this life on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at his home. He was 76 years, 8 months, and 28 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ, was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church and was a lifelong farmer.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, >Zenith Wynez Berry DeSpain on July 8, 2016 having united in marriage on November 14, 1959.

Survivors include:
  • Four sons and daughters-in-law: Doug and Tina DeSpain, Don and Teresa DeSpain, Timmy and Leah DeSpain, and Michael and Linda DeSpain all of Greensburg, KY

  • Eight grandchildren: Wesley DeSpain, Jeremy DeSpain, Jacob DeSpain, B.J. Farmer, Thomas DeSpain, Bethanne DeSpain, Dakota Smith and Quindolyn Judd

  • Five great-grandchildren

  • A brother and sister: Eli Milby and Violet Milby both of Greensburg, KY

  • Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Carl & Brenda Beams of Greensburg, KY; and Thomas and Linda Berry of London, KY

  • And a host of other relatives and friends
