Robert William (Bobby) Cook, Green County, KY (1930-2017)

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church. He was retired from General Electric, was a Veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Army, a member of the American Legion Rod Lowe Post #124, and the James L. Pruitt V.F.W. Post #5813. He was a member of a highly regarded family. He was the son of the late Herbert R. Cook & Nettie Vanarsdale Cook. His wife of 26 years, Betty Lou Pickett Cook, survives. He leaves eight direct living descendants.

Mr. Robert William "Bobby" Cook, 87, of Greensburg, KY, departed this life on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland Care Center in Somerset, KY.

The funeral services for Mr. Robert William "Bobby" Cook will be conducted at 10amCT, Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S Main Street, Greensburg, KY, with burial to follow in the Greensburg Cemetery. Bro. Dale Curry officiating and Joel Bennett to speak. Visitation is requested 4pm-8pmCT, Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7amCT, Wednesday until time of the funeral service.

Robert "Bobby" William Cook, Green Co., KY (1930-2017)

Mr. Robert William "Bobby" Cook, of Greensburg, KY, son of the late Herbert R. Cook & Nettie Vanarsdale Cook, was born on Sunday, April 6, 1930 in Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo County, MI and departed this life on Saturday, September 16, 2017 Somerset, Pulaski County, KY. He was 87 years, five months and 10 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church. He was retired from General Electric, was a Veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Army, a member of the American Legion Rod Lowe Post #124, and the James L. Pruitt V.F.W. Post #5813.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Betty Lou Pickett Cook of Greensburg, having united in marriage on November 2, 1990.

Other survivors include
  • A son and daughter-in-law: Gary Wayne and Merci Cook of California

  • Two daughters and a son-in-law: Annamarie and Eduardo Solis of Florida; and Cynthia Andre of Louisiana

  • Five grandchildren: Jennifer Cook, Catherine Cook, Geoffrey Cook all of California; and Raul Alexander Solis, and Kathryn Solis both of Florida

  • A sister: Margaret Coomes of Black Gnat, KY

  • Two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law: Janet Pickett of Greensburg, KY; Anita Ruth Brown of Elizabethtown, KY; and Douglas Pickett of Greensburg, KY

  • And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
Mr. Cook was also preceded in death by a brother: Billy Cook.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Green County High School Boys Basketball, which can be made at the funeral home.
