John R. Blankenship, Jr., 77, of Russell Springs, KY passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at the Russell County Hospital, Russell Springs, KY.

Funeral Services for John R.Blankenship, Jr. will be at H.E. Pruitt Memory Chapel, 202 N Main Street, Jamestown, KY, at 1pmCT, Friday, February 24, 2017, with Bro. Bill Welker officiating. Friends may visit on Thursday, February 23, 2017, after 5pmCT at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Jamestown Cemetery, 201 N Main Street, Jamestown, KY.

John was born in Jamestown, Russell County, KY on May 8, 1939. He was a son of the late Louisa Jane (Snow) & John R. Blankenship. He died Tuesday, February 21, 2017, in Russell Springs, Russell County, KY, at the age of 77 years, nine months, and 13 days. He was a retired school teacher.

John is survived by:
  • His wife: Jeanette (McFarland) Blankenship, of Russell Springs, KY

  • Two sons: Jack Blankenship, of Russell Springs, KY; and Joel Blankenship, of Columbus, OH

  • A daughter: Jane Gunter, of Dallas, NC

  • Six grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son John R. Blankenship III.
