Mrs. Nina Mae Riddle Jarvis, 96, Burkesville, KY (1919-2016)

She was of the Baptist faith. She was a high school graduate and received her teaching certificate from Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, KY. Later, she received a Masters Degree in Education from Western Kentucky University, attained her Rank I, and 30 hours above the Rank I. Her career spanned many years of service in The Cumberland County School System, having been Principle of Marrowbone and Kettle Schools, schoolteacher, guidance counselor, and Director of Pupil Personnel.

Mrs. Nina Mae Riddle Jarvis, age 96, of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away Friday Morning, January 29, 2016 at her home.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 1pmCT, in The Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home, 601 N Main Street, Burkesville, Kentucky, with Bro. Todd Bryant officiating. Burial will be in the Highway Cemetery in Clinton County, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 31, 2016 after 3pmCT, at Norris-New Funeral Home until the funeral hour on Monday.



Mrs. Nina Mae Riddle Jarvis, 96, Burkesville, KY (1919-2016)


She was born on Thursday, May 8, 1919 in Cumberland County, Kentucky the daughter of John Porter and Flora Melvina Sells Riddle. She died Friday, January 29, 2016, in Burkesville, KY, at the age of 96 years, eight months, and 21 days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Larry Keith Jarvis; sisters, Clara Velma Riddle Perdue and Thelma Riddle Murley; and her brother, Elmer Riddle. She is survived by her husband, Mr. Wendell Newman Jarvis , whom she wed on March 8, 1948, and the following:
  • Her daughter: Teresa Kay (and Dr. Ravi) Johar, of Chesterfield, Missouri; her grandchildren, Katelyn Johar, Alexander Johar and Megan Johar

  • Her special niece, Jennifer Murley (and Dr. Robert "Bob") Thompson of Lexington, KY

  • And a host of great-nieces and nephews
