Gary (Gyro) Pike, 58, Adair County, KY (1956-2015)

He was member of a prominent, highly respected family. He was the husband of Vickie Browning Pike, who survives, the son-in-law of Gertrude Browning, and the son of the late Clarence and Lilly Allene White Pike of Taylor County, KY. He was a member of the Sparksville Baptist Church, an inspector for Hendrickson Axle Company in Lebanon and Somerset for several years, and was employed by Union Underwear for many years. He was Past Master of Pitman Lodge in Campbellsville, KY, and a former Board of Directors member and a longtime member of the Adair County Sportsmen’s Club. His hobbies included being a historical re-enactor. He was a widely known black powder rifle shooter.

Gary "Gyro" Pike, 58, of Columbia, KY passed away Friday, February 20, 2015 at 8:35amCT, at his home after several months illness with cancer.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 2pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Darrell Landis the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. The family requests visiting after 9:30amCT, on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. Masonic rites will be conferred by Pitman Lodge # 124 immediately following the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers: Kenneth Bennett, Bart Cain, Ken Hill, Anthony Hines, Barry Jones, and Harry Mills.

He was born May 13, 1956 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY. He was the son of the late Clarence and Lilly Allene White Pike of Taylor County, KY. He died Friday, February 20, 2015, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 58 years, nine months, and seven days.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie Browning Pike of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • His mother in law: Gertrude Browning of Columbia, KY

  • And a host of friends
