Elzie (Zeb) Jones, Taylor County, KY (1921-2014)

He was a native of Pulaski County, KY, and a resident of Taylor County, KY, at the time of his death. He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He retired from Carnation Milk Company after many years as a driver. He was a veteran of World War II, having served his country honorably in the United States Army in India and Asia. His wife, Maxine Simpson Jones, survives. He leaves 49 direct living descendants spanning 4 generations.

Elzie "Zeb" Jones, 92, of Campbellsville, KY died at 10:53amET, Saturday, February 15, 2014 in Elizabethtown, KY.

The funeral service will be at 10amCT/11amET, Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Avenue, Campbellsville by Rev. Larry Rhodes. Burial will be in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens, 700 Old U.S. Highway 68, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation will be 4pm-7pmCT/5pm-8pmET, Monday, February 17, 2014 at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.



Elzie (Zeb) Jones, Taylor County, KY (1921-2014)


Elzie "Zeb" Jones of Campbellsville, KY was the son of the late Oscar Jones and Ada Turner Jones. He was born in Pulaski County, Kentucky. Saturday, April 16, 1921. He died Saturday, February 15, 2014 in Elizabethtown, Hardin County, KY, at the age of 92 years, 8 months, and 29 days.

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

He retired from Carnation Milk Company after many years as a driver.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served his country honorably in the United States Army in India and Asia.

He united in marriage to Maxine Simpson on October 16, 1942.

Besides his wife, Maxine Jones of Campbellsville, KY, he is survived by the following:
  • Three daughters and two sons: Ruth Gray of Campbellsville, KY; Carol Cox and husband, Jerry of Mannsville, KY; Vivian Sullivan and husband, David of Mt. Washington, KY; Jimmy Jones and wife, Judy of Campbellsville, KY; and Mike Jones and wife, Kay of Louisville, KY

  • Twelve grandchildren

  • Twenty-five great-grandchildren

  • Seven great-great-grandchildren

  • One sister" Ella Mae Stubbs of Burlington, Kentucky

  • Several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Chris Gray; two great-grandsons: Gerald Douglas Cox III and Christopher David Sexton; and two brothers: Elmer Jones and Frank Jones.

Family request expressions of sympathy be donations to the Calvary Baptist Church or Gideon Bibles and may be made at The Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.
