He was a native of Adair County and a resident at the time of his death. He was a member of aa large, respected Northeast Adair County family. He was the son of the late Virgil & Emmer Bybee McKinney. His wife, Katie Burton McKinney, survives. He leaves one direct living descendant. Funeral services will be Sunday, October 6, 2013 at 1:30pmCT/2:30pmET, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY with Bro. Hugh Withers and Bro. J. Richard Lehman officiating. Interment will be in Bearwallow Cemetery, 6090 Liberty Road, Columbia, KY. Visitation will be after 4:30pmCT/5:30pmET Saturday.

He was born Friday, April 26, 1940 in Adair County, KY. He was the son of the late Virgil & Emmer Bybee McKinney. He died Thursday, October 3, 2013, in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY, at the age of 73 years, 5 months, and 7 years.
He was preceded in death by foster parents Bob & Nora Lee Branham; he was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, Marvin McKinney and Clyde McKinney, and Lou Willie McKinney and Pearl Campbell.
He is survived by his wife Katie Jean McKinney, of Columbia, KY and the following:
One son: Dewayne McKinney of Columbia, KY
One brother: Alfred McKinney of Breeding, KY
One sister: Dorothy Richard of Columbia, KY
Several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
