Eileen Compton, Adair Co., KY (1928-2012)

Mrs. Compton was the Pastor of the Grace Chapel Church in the Nell Community for 23 years. She was special, joyous Christian. She was a greatly admired by all those who knew her and were charmed by her warm smile. She always exuded a very real Christian faith and it is said that when she prayed, it was a like conversation with Christ himself. In addition to pastoral duties, she a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and reading and a wonderful, very lively, very loving family.

Eileen Compton, age 83 years formerly of the Nell Community in Adair County, KY passed away Monday January 30, 2012 at 8:50pmCT, at the Barren County Health Center in Glasgow, KY after several months illness.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 11amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 200 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Daniel Compton the officiating clergy. Interment in the Moore Cemetery, 225 Prices Creek Road, at Gradyville, KY. The family requests visitation after 2pmCT on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at the funeral home.



Eileen Compton, Adair Co., KY (1928-2012)

She was born May 9, 1928 in Whiteville, NC, the daughter of the late Boss Elder and Lou Bertie Soles Coleman. She died Monday, January 30, 2012, in Glasgow, Barren Co., KY, at the age of 83 years, 8 months, and 21 days.Mrs. Compton was preceded in death by her husband Clayton Howard Compton on October 31, 2000.

She is survived by three sons: Clayton Timothy Compton and wife Vicky of Edmonton, KY; Mark Compton and wife Debbie of Glasgow, KY; Daniel Compton and wife Mary of Fisherville, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: Candice Robertson, Crystal Kingrey, Nathan Compton, Hannah Colvin, Sara Kyle, William Compton and Robert Compton

  • Eleven great grandchildren

  • One sister

  • and a host of other relatives and friends
