Obituary: Ivan G. Blevins, Taylor Co., KY

He was a a true champion of Campbellsville, a highly regarded citizen of Taylor Co., KY where he has been a a leading real estate developer. He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict who served with U.S. Army Battery B 623rd Field Artillery Battalion. He will be accord full military honors by Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Ivan G. Blevins of Campbellsville, KY, died at 5:21pmET, Tuesday February 16, 2010.

Funeral services will be at 11amCT/10amET, Friday, February 19, 2010, at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon AV, Campbellsville, KY, by Rev. Don Watson, with full military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, West Main ST, Campbellsville, KY. Visitation will be after 5pmET/4pmCT, Thursday, February 18, 2010 at the funeral home.



Pallbearers will be Bobby Beams, Barry Blevins, Jerry Blevins, Tom Christie, Jorge Guajardo, and Tom Thomas.

Ivan G. Blevins, Taylor Co., KY (1930 - 2010)

Ivan G. Blevins of Campbellsville, son of the late William T. Blevins and Anna Hunt Blevins, was born Friday, March 28, 1930 in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 5:21pmET, Tuesday February 16, 2010 at the age of 79 years, 10 months, and 19 days.

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served his country honorably in the United States Army Battery B 623rd Field Artillery Battalion.

He was a retired real estate developer.

He united in marriage to Margaret Christie who preceded him in death March 10, 1971.

He united in marriage to Judith Wilson who preceded him in death January 16, 2010.

He is survived by the following:
  • Two daughters and sons in law: Laura Blevins-Clark and Mark Clark of Campbellsville, KY; and Julie Moore Toy and Rob Toy of Charlotte, NC

  • A son and daughter in law: John D. and Leslie Moore of Birmingham, AL

  • Six grandchildren: Casey Ennis Guajardo and husband, Jorge; John Toy, Wesley Toy, Melissa Moore, Christopher Moore and Mary Jordan Moore

  • Two sisters and one brother: Delora Ford and husband, Paul of Campbellsville, KY; Haskell Blevins and wife, Marie of Lake June, FL; and Ina Tucker of New Albany, IN

  • A sister-in-law, Pearl Blevins of Campbellsville, KY

  • Several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Blevins Beams July 3, 2004 and a son in infancy March 4, 1955 and by four brothers and two sisters: Cecil Blevins, Thomas Blevins, Otha Blevins, William L. Blevins, Neva Morris and Vada Thomas.

The family requests expressions of sympathy be donations to Gideon Bibles and may be made at the funeral home.
