Summer Reading Schedule at ACPL: Unearth a Story

It's time to start making plans for summer reading at the Adair County Public Library. This year's theme is "Unearth a Story! Summer Reading 2026". The focus is Dinosaurs, Archeology, Paleontology, Reading and having a great time!

• Tuesday, June 2, 2026 - Week 1: Registration Day! Stop by anytime from 10amCT to 3:30pmCT to sign up for "Unearth a Story! Summer Reading 2026". Pick up your 'Summer Time, Fun Time Journals', Calendar of Events, Reading Buddies and participate in activities.


• Tuesday, June 9, 2026 - Week 2: 10amCT Feathers, Scales and Skin: What Did Dinosaurs Look Like and How Do We Know? We will discuss what Dinosaurs may have looked like and then you will create your own collage dinosaur on poster board.


• Tuesday, June 16, 2026 - Week 3: 10amCT Dinosaurs: Herbivores vs Carnivores. We will be reading, "Dinosaur Dinners" and "Jurassic Poop" and then making our own dino poo!


• Tuesday, June 23, 2026 - Week 4: 10amCT Paleontology Day! Dig up a tiny dino skeleton and make a fossil cast!


• Tuesday, June 30, 2026 - Week 5: 10amCT America's 250th Birthday/ Dinosaurs in America. We will make a Patriotic Dino Sign.


• Tuesday, July 7, 2026 - Week 6: 10amCT Dinosaur habitats. Create a paper plate habitat with a tiny dinosaur and small volcano that 'erupts'!


• Wednesday, July 15, 2026 - Week 7: 10amCT Dino Dance Party with snacks and other fun activities!
