Hazel Willis Smith, 73, Burkesville, KY (1950-2024)

Hazel Willis Smith, age 73 of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at T J Health Columbia. Hazel was born on April 22, 1950 in Cumberland County, KY to the late Willie Odell Willis and Eara Mae Riddle Willis.

She was a member of Burkesville Church of Christ, was a former employee of John Ed Smith Realty & Auction and was a longtime caregiver. She was the founder of "WE CARE" and was actively involved in many organizations in Cumberland County including the Steel Horse Stampede Motorcycle Ride every year.


In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Paul T. Smith, three brothers Roy Willis, Bobby Willis, and Phillip "Big Boy" Willis and six sisters Betty Roach, Shirley Anderson, Lou Johnson, Nelda Dean Riley, Judy Rush, and Irine Spear.

Survivors Include:

One Daughter- Letha Hagan Lynn of Burkesville, KY

One Grandson- John Caleb Lynn of Burkesville, KY

Two Brothers- Paul Willis(Bessie) and Millard Willis both of Burkesville, KY

Three Sisters- Margie Thompson (Richard) of Glasgow, KY and Linda Riddle (Clifford) and Phyllis Riddle (Thomas) both of Burkesville, KY

along with a host of nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends

Funeral Service: Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 2pmCT at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main Street, Burkesville, KY with burial in Burkesville Cemetery. Family requests visitation Saturday, April 6 from 5-9pm and after 6am Sunday until time for services.
