Retter Bailey, 72, Adair Co., KY native (1950-2023)

Retter Bell (Janes) Bailey of Campbellsville passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023, at Taylor Regional Hospital. She was 72 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 11amET on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. Adam Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Tarters Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Monday from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue on Tuesday until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.


She was born in Milltown, KY on May 8, 1950, to the late Galeon and Sallie Keltner Janes. She was preceded in death by her husband Sanford Bolin Bailey.

Mrs. Bailey attended the Pollards Chapel Church and enjoyed flower gardening, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include a son Wade Bailey of Columbia, KY; two stepsons Terry Bailey (Tina) of Greensburg, KY and Travis Bailey (Peggy) of Russell Springs, KY; two grandsons Jonathan Bailey (Erin Gill) and Joshua Bailey (Emma Gaskin) both of Columbia, KY; six step grandchildren Patrick, Ryan, Lindsey, James, Matthew, and Trevor Bailey; two siblings Ollen Janes (Bonnie) and Phyllis Stone (Jimmie) both of Columbia, KY and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by ten siblings Herbert, Payne, Norman, Bill, Lewis, and Johnnie Janes, Ernestine Kemp, Ruth Burris, Freida Smith, and Sue Cundiff.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Bailey, Joshua Bailey, Craig Clark, Anthony Brockman, Dan Held, and Lenny Stone.
