Bettie Jean Chelf Benningfield, 85, Taylor County, KY

She was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church and a former employee of Walmart for over 20 years, RECC and Central KY OBGYN.

Bettie Jean Chelf Benningfield, 85, of Campbellsville, KY died Saturday, November 18, 2018 at the Campbellsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be 10amCT/11amET Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia with burial in the Brookside Cemetery in Campbellsville, KY. Visitation will be after 4pmCT/5pmET Monday at the funeral home.

Rev. Brad Lauer will be officiating and pallbearers will be Scott Callison, Jeremy Benningfield, Ronnie Ray Benningfield, Gary Gupton, Steve Benningfield and William Feese.



Born on May 8, 1933 in the Knifley community of Adair County she was the daughter of the late Ira and Bettie B. Knifley Chelf and wife of the late Algusta "Gus" Benningfield.

She was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church and a former employee of Walmart for over 20 years, RECC and Central KY OBGYN.

Survivors include
  • five sisters-in-law Lucille Ellis of Lebanon, KY, Lena Mae Gupton, Pauline Judd (Gene), Pansy Barnett and Wanda Beck (David) all of Campbellsville, KY
  • Two brothers-in-law Ronnel Lee Benningfield (Imogene) of Finley, KY and Jr. Benningfield (Juanita) of Campbellsville, KY
  • Several nieces, nephews and a host of other friends and relatives.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two sisters Maxine Farris and Allene Cundiff and three brothers Herman, Leon and Bobbie Chelf.

Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, is in charge of arrangements.
