Four Blue Raiders score; Men's soccer beats Georgetown 5-0

By Christopher Coombs

The Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team defeated Georgetown (Ky.) 5-0 in Mid-South Conference action on Friday night at Walter S. Reuling Stadium as four different Blue Raiders found the back of the net.

Lindsey Wilson (9-1-1, 3-0-0 MSC) outshot Georgetown (7-6-0, 0-2-0 MSC) 35-10 including 15-1 in shots on goal. The Tigers were charged with 10 fouls in the match as LWC was only called for four. LWC added 13 corner kicks in the match.

The Blue Raiders wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, doing so in the 13th minute when Yuta Yamamoto scored his second goal of the season. Rainer De Jesus fired a low hard shot that was blocked away by Georgetown's goalkeeper, but the rebound went right to Yamamoto who was easily able to finish the play, giving the Blue Raiders a 1-0 lead.

From there the Blue Raiders continued their offensive attack and finally scored their second goal of the game with just over three minutes left in the half. De Jesus fed a 25-yard through ball that caught an Andrew Revenales in stride inside the 18-yard box. Revenales finish through the Tigers goalkeepers legs, increasing the LWC lead to two.

The Blue Raiders finished the half with 14 shots, six on goal as Georgetown managed four shots in the half with one on target.

Lindsey Wilson was able to tack on two more goals in the second half, the first coming during the 51st minute. Maxwell Amoako played a perfect ball into the 18-yard box to Karim Jouini who was able to blast a shot towards the left post out of the reach of the Tigers goalkeeper's fingertips.

Later in the action during the 59th minute Tyler Collishaw, playing in his first game this season after returning from injury, received a pass from Maxwell Amoako 12-yard out. Collishaw then took two touches to shake Georgetown defenders. The move opened a shooting lane that allowed Collishaw to fire a shot low and hard toward the left post to increase the LWC lead to 4-0.

The Blue Raiders would tack on one more goal in the 88th minute when Dioulde Niane found and open Jouini who was able to finish from eight-yards out to give Lindsey Wilson a 5-0 victory.

LWC's defense only allowed six Georgetown shots in the half preserving the shutout by Lindsey Wilson goalkeeper William Diaz who was forced to make one save in the match.

Lindsey Wilson hits the road for their next contest, traveling to Bob Amos Drive, Pikeville, KY, to face Pikeville at 4pmCT.
