Letter: Light caterpillar, light winter; or maybe not Mike Watson writes: Well, Pen, the old timers would say that an all black or darkest brown one indicated a bad or harsh winter with bone-chilling cold and above average snow. A light one, just the opposite. And those with bands, alternationg mild and severe bouts of weather.
