CMS and CHS students participate in district choral festival By Calen McKinney Campbellsville middle and high school students participated in the Fourth District Choral Festival on Monday, Sept. 17, and Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018. The festival is an annual event that features students from area schools. Students in grades seven through high school seniors can participate, and are divided into two groups. The Junior High Choir is made up of students in seventh and eighth grades, as well as high school freshmen. The Senior High Choir is comprised of high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. At CMS and CHS, students were nominated by their choral director to participate in the festival. CMS students participating include seventh-graders Nathan Ray and Allison Sumners and eighth-graders Whitney Frashure, Zeke Bell, Glory Deckard, Haylee Allen, Mikaela Scharbrough and Kadence Houk. CHS students participating include freshmen Gabby Skaggs and Abby Turner; juniors Gavin Johnson, Lauryn Agathen, Zaria Cowan and Alli Wilson; and seniors Hayley Stapleton, Jay Tucker and Jeremiah Jackson. Before participating in the festival, students spent time learning music with their choral directors. At the festival, on Monday, students were at Breckenridge County High School for sectional rehearsals and their first full ensemble rehearsal. The following day, students were at Campbellsville University in full ensemble rehearsals and performed a free concert in CU's Ransdell Chapel. Jessica Floyd directs the CMS and CHS choirs.
