Barrel Top Art to Highlight 'Aging to Perfection'

By Doug Hogan/Anya Armes Weber

Advocates of healthy aging and state officials will gather next week to open a Capitol rotunda art display that features the work of the state's senior centers. The display will open at 1pmET on Monday, September 24, 2018 in the Capitol Rotunda, 700 Capital Ave., Frankfort, KY.

The collection of decorated bourbon barrel tops is part of the 2018 conference of Southeastern Association of Area Agencies on Aging (SE4A) Sept. 30 through Oct. 3 in Louisville. The conference theme is "Aging to Perfection," a play on Kentucky's booming bourbon industry.

More than 50 bourbon barrel tops, decorated by Kentucky's senior centers, will be on display next week in the Rotunda before being auctioned at the SE4A conference. Proceeds will benefit SE4A's education efforts.

September is National Senior Center Month, and also Bourbon Heritage Month.
