Adair Co man arrested on drug charges NOTE: An arrest is not a finding of guilt. An individual placed under arrest is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding. By Tpr. Nick Hale On September 16th, 2018 at approximately 2:10amCT, Trooper Nick Davis, Tpr. Allen Shirley and Deputy Joey Keith responded to a residence on Liberty Rd investigating a possible drug complaint that had been reported. While units were inside the residence a blue Ford Ranger, being operated by 31 year old Joseph Baker of Columbia, pulled in the drive and parked behind the residence. As Trooper Davis walked outside to make contact with Baker he located a shotgun in plain view of the pickup truck. While Trooper Davis was searching the vehicle, he observed Baker had attempted to discard a small red flashlight. Deputy Keith opened the flash light and located a bag of suspected methamphetamine. Baker was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance 1st degree 1st offense (methamphetamine), tampering with physical evidence, driving on a suspended license 1st offense, operating on a suspended or revoked license, license to be in possession, failure to produce insurance card and failure of owner to maintain required insurance 1st offense.
