An update on Ed

Dear readers,

As a life-long journalist, Ed Waggener has never wanted to be the news. However, we would like to update you on recent events. On the evening of Thursday, September 13, Ed suffered cardiac arrest at home. He was revived by Adair County EMS and rushed to TJ Samson in Glasgow, Kentucky.

The cath lab staff was able to successfully restore blood flow to his heart. However, he is still in a medically induced coma in the Intensive Care Unit at TJ Samson. More test results will be available within the next few days to determine the extent of damage while he was without oxygen.

The family would like to thank the EMS crew, the staff at TJ Samson, and all who have reached out with offers of help, prayers, visits and other kind gestures. Please keep Ed and the entire family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate the unknown over the next few days or weeks.

We are trying to be bedside as much as possible, but Ed's priority has always been that the news must be delivered, so we'll keep updating Columbia Magazine too. We know it would mean a lot to Ed if you keep sending news and pictures as you normally would.

Sincerely,
The Waggener Family

Continuing prayers requested for Ed

Please continue keeping ColumbiaMagazine.com editor Ed Waggener and the entire family in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate the unknown over the days ahead. He suffered cardiac arrest at home Thursday evening. He was revived by Adair County EMS and rushed to the hospital where he remains in critical condition. We are trying to be bedside as much as possible, but Ed's priority has always been that the news must be delivered, so we'll keep updating Columbia Magazine, too. We know it would mean a lot to him if you keep sending news and pictures, and if you recall a special photo or story from over the 20+ years of archives, it would be wonderful to have that reminder to share. This photo is a favorite from a visit to Lindsey Wilson College last year.

Please continue to pray with us for Ed

2018-09-22 - Columbia - Photo by Linda Waggener, ColumbiaMagazine.com.
Continued prayers are requested for my husband, ColumbiaMagazine.com editor Ed Waggener. His doctors tell us they've done everything they can on this 9th day since his cardiac arrest and that now his recovery is in God's hands. Ed is pictured at left enjoying a recent election event, one of his favorite subjects to cover, when ballot positions were drawn for the Adair County General Election November 6, 2018. At right is his favorite fall flower, Ironweed, from one of our recent photo journeys. Thank you to everyone who has been praying, visiting, calling and messaging. - Linda Waggener
