LWC Women's soccer 4-1 over Olivet By Anthony Latessa The No. 23-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team defeated Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) 4-1 on Saturday at Walter S. Reuling Stadium. Alicia Thoresen, Delfina Santellan, Sina Cavelti and Emelie Liljered each scored a goal for the Blue Raiders (2-1-1). Savanah Simpson, Cavelti, Yvonne Ploeg and Thoresen had an assist apiece. Lindsey Wilson outshot the Tigers (0-6-1) 17-5 and held a 7-1 advantage in shots on goal. Jovana Ivanovic recorded her first win of the season in net for the Blue Raiders. Thoresen got Lindsey Wilson on the board first in the sixth minute off a Simpson assist. The Blue Raiders recorded 10 shots in the first half with three on goal and prevented the Tigers from registering a shot in the half. Cavelti led the way for Lindsey Wilson in the half with three shots while Delfina Santellan recorded two. In the 60th minute, Cavelti played a ball into the box that Santellan was able to run in on a bury it in the net to increase the Lindsey Wilson lead to 2-0. Ploeg had the ball in the box and found Cavelti who was able to get it past the goalkeeper in the 72nd minute to increase the lead to 3-0. Alexi Zastrow put Olivet Nazarene on the board in the 80th minute. Zastrow connected from a free kick from about 40 yards out that was able to beat the goal keeper cutting the Blue Raider lead to 3-1. Thoresen played a ball into Liljered who was able to fire it into the upper-right corner in the 82nd minute giving Lindsey Wilson a 4-1 lead. The Blue Raiders are back in action on Sept. 22 when they host No. 2-ranked William Carey (Miss.) at 7 p.m. CT at Walter S. Reuling Stadium, 151 Holloway Drive, Columbia, KY.
