LWC Volleyball in MSC Crossover Challenge, 24 & 25 Aug 2018

Lindsey Wilson Volleyball plays two matches on Friday and two matches on Saturday facing four quality opponents in Union (KY), Texas Wesleyan, Reinhardt (GA), and No. 22-ranked Indiana Wesleyan.

COLUMBIA, KY - (Fri 24 Aug 2018) The No. 1-ranked Lindsey Wilson volleyball team hits the road this weekend to take part in the Mid-South Conference Crossover Challenge in Bowling Green, KY. The Blue Raiders are slated to face Union and Texas Wesleyan at 2pmCT and 6pmCT.

On Saturday, August 25, 2018, Lindsey Wilson faces Reinhardt and Indiana Wesleyan at 12pmCT and 4pmCT. All of the matches take place at Ephram White Gym, 85 Mt. Olivet Road, Bowling Green, KY.



The Blue Raiders (2-0) are coming off back-to-back sweeps at Fisk (TN) on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, and at home against Asbury (KY) on Wednesday, August 22, 2018. Lindsey Wilson has recorded a total of 145 attacks with 83 kills and only nine errors so far in 2018 season.

The Blue Raiders top the NAIA in hitting percentage (.510) with Alexis Smith leading the team with a hitting percentage of (.667). Grace Blomstedt leads the team with 18 kills, along with 10 total blocks for the two matches played so far.

Union opens up their 2018 season at the MSC Crossover Challenge after a 31-11 record, including winning the Appalachian Athletics Conference Tournament Championship in 2017. The Bulldogs return only five student-athletes from the 2017 team.

For Texas Wesleyan (0-1), they face Mid-South competitor Life (GA) before facing the Blue Raiders on Friday. The Rams return only six student-athletes from the 2017 roster after a 27-7 record and a NAIA National Tournament appearance last season. Lindsey Wilson swept Texas Wesleyan in pool play at the 2017 national tournament.

Reinhardt (3-1) plays two games before facing Lindsey Wilson on Saturday. So far this season, the Eagles have recorded 193 kills with 186 assists and have a hitting percentage of .233. Reinhardt returns with seven players from last season's roster after a 29-7 record.

To finish off the tournament, No. 22-ranked Indiana Wesleyan faces the Blue Raiders for their last match of the tournament on Saturday evening. The Wildcats open up their season at the crossover event this weekend. Last season, the Wildcats went 29-12 and won the Crossroads League Tournament Championship and made the program's seventh trip to the NAIA National Championship.
