Downtown businesses working together - form association In the spirit of 'A rising tide lifts all boats,' downtown businesses within walking distance of the Public Square are working together for mutual support including later hours one night a month starting August 10, 2018. Click on headline for complete story By Linda Waggener Downtown Columbia's retail merchants are coming together within the Chamber of Commerce to form an association. Present at the recent organizational meeting were: Ellen Zornes, Pamela hoots, Mike Watson, Caleb & Luci Irvin, Billy Joe & Libby Fudge, Pam Spires, Brenda Bardin, Valeria Bault & Linda Waggener. Each business, as it does self promotion, will also help promote their neighbor businesses in the spirit of a rising tide lifts all boats. Dates have been set for evening hours once each month leading up to the Christmas season. August 10, 2018 at 6pmCT is the kick off date. The later evening hours, until 9pm, will also be offered by participating businesses September 14, October 12, November 9, and December 14. The chamber will be providing a news release and they have already been to the radio stations to speak about these events. They will also provide flyers with the theme of downtown night market. The deadline to have a business listed on the promotional piece is 4pmCT next Thursday, July 26, 2018. In order to have a business listed, mail business name and a couple of sentences describing it to designer Caleb Irvin, Nanwoodmarket@Gmail.com.
