Book Fair 2018 -- Lou Ann Gore Flanagan asks how to sign up By Linda Waggener Thank you Lou Ann Gore Flanagan for your note this morning asking how to sign up for the upcoming Book Fair -- that should have been included in last week's update. Two leaders are Mike Watson and Pamela Hoots and their email addresses are below. ColumbiaMagazine.com is proud to be a communications hub for the Book Fair in support of regional wordsmiths who continue telling the story of this place. One-time Columbia writer, Jackson R Brower, (still writing from PA), coined a fine phrase when he wrote, "... I believe that Columbia, KY, is truly the "fountain of ink" (a wordplay on "fountain of youth") for aspiring writers. It all started back in the mid-1800s..." Jackson connects the story of Jane Lampton who made the statement that indicated she may have conceived her son Samuel Clemens in Columbia -- her baby who would grow up to become a wordsmith with the pseudonym, Mark Twain. Even if you discount that story and don't claim Mark Twain, Columbia is indeed rich in literary heritage. That's why the Adair County Public Library, Adair County Genealogical Society, and the Adair Heritage Association are hosting The Author & Book Fair, 10am-2pmCT, October 6, 2018, at Wheet Fellowship Hall, 1200 Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY. There is no fee to vend. CONTACTS: Email Mike Watson - watson.kentucky@gmail.com Email Pam Hoots - pjhoots1@earthlink.com and as always, contact us at ColumbiaMagazine.com by clicking 'contact' or 'comment' below the story.
