The ACHS students words that go along with each card are printed below: #1. There is a monster near... it is all around, in every city in every town. #2. This product can cause cancer, respiratory illness, SIDS and diseases of the heart. #4. Why has it come to this? Why is this the so called NORM? Why can't I stop for a drink and not feel alarmed? #5. The packaging is colorful and pretty, it's made to catch your eye. Just to get your attention so that you will stop and buy. #6. It draws you in with its sweet deals, making you think it's full of thrills. Buy one get one, it's all just a trick, the more you fall for it the more likely you will get sick. #7. The results are not as glamorous as the advertising would lead us to believe. They've convinced us to want them, but we've been deceived. To back industry spends $8.9 billion annually advertising in Kentucky. #8. Between 2011 and 2015, 132 Adair County residents died from cancer directly caused by smoking or secondhand smoke (Kentucky cancer registry.) The statistics should not be taken lightly. I repeat, this is not a joke. #9. Replacement: 2,900 Kentucky kids become new daily smokers each year. 119,000 Kentucky kids alive now under the age of 18 will ultimately die premature from smoking. #10. Replacements. Big tobacco target youth by making products that are similar in looks to tobacco products. #11. There is hope that you can celebrate more birthdays.
