About 30 participate in Hoop It Up basketball camp

Campbellsville High School boys’ basketball coaches and players hosted a “Hoop It Up” basketball clinic June 11-14, 2018 at the CHS gym. About 30 students entering first through eighth grades this fall participated.

At the clinic, participants learned fundamentals and competed in shooting and fundamental contests and three-on-three and five-on-five play.

CHS head coach Tim Davis, assistant coaches Will Griffin and Cody Wills and several players taught participants about discipline and a hard work ethic.



The camp offered two age divisions, NCAA and NBA. At the end of camp, several awards were given to campers for their hard work during the week. Award winners are as follows:

Free Throw Shooting

Monday – Cayton Lawhorn, NBA; and Griff Thomas, NCAA.

Tuesday – Lanigan Price, NBA; and Griff Thomas, NCAA.

Wednesday – Lee Colvin, Cayton Lawhorn and Lanigan Price, NBA; and Jackson Wright, NCAA.

Thursday – Les Colvin, NBA; and Jackson Wright and Griff Thomas, NCAA.

Competition Shooting

Agility Shooting – Lee Colvin and Cayton Lawhorn, NBA; and Brody Sidebottom, NCAA.

Lay-Ups – Cayton Lawhorn, Reece Swafford and Cameron Estes, NBA; and Karsyn Smith, NCAA.

10 Spots – Lee Colvin, NBA; and Karsyn Smith, NCAA.

Long and Shorts – Lee Colvin and Reece Swafford, NBA; and Jackson Wright, NCAA.

Beat Stephon Curry – Adrian Lanham, NBA; and Griff Thomas, NCAA.

Overall camp winners:

Free Throws – Cayton Lawhorn, NBA; and Griff Thomas, NCAA.

One on One Champion – Jaron Johnson, NBA; and Brody Sidebottom, NCAA.

Competition Shooting – Cayton Lawhorn, NBA; and Griff Thomas, NCAA.

Outstanding Camper – Lee Colvin, NBA; and Griff Thomas, NCAA.

Those attending the camp included Kyler Wilson, Aubreigh Knifley, Griff Thomas, Owen Skaggs, Brody Sidebottom, Karsyn Smith, Les Colvin, Carson Mills, Lee Colvin, Aidan Wilson, Lanigan Price, Jaron Johnson, Luke Adkins, Cayton Lawhorn, Grayson Booe, Cameron Estes, Wyatt Smith, Jackson Wright, Cash Davis, Landry Brown, Londyn Smith, Reece Swafford, Adrian Lanham, Austin Slone and Rowan Petett.
