Brandon Burns, 34, Columbia, KY (1983-2018)


He attended the Columbia First Church of the Nazarene and was the Lindsey Wilson College Bowling Team Coach. Brandon made a lasting impression on the lives of his student athletes, family and countless friends. His infectious personality and passion for life was evident whether on the golf course, in a bowling alley, or just spending time with those who loved him. He was a member of a large, highly regarded family with deep family ties in Adair, Cumberland, Green, and Taylor Counties of South Kentucky and elswhere. He was the son of Barney & Mary Anna Curry Burns of Columbia. His wife, Ashley Claywell Burns, survives. His children, a daughter Chloe and a son expected in August, Jordan Parker Burris, survive.

Funeral service for Brandon Burns will be at 1pmCT, Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY with Rev. Jon Carnes, Rev. David Kemp, and Rev. Neil Janes the officiating ministers. Interment in the Cane Valley Cemetery, 83 Cane Valley Cemetery Road, in the Cane Valley Community of Adair County, Columbia, KY. The family requests visiting after 2pmCT, on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.

He was born September 30, 1983 in Campbellsville, Taylor County, KY. He was the son of Barney and Mary Anna Curry Burns. He died Sunday, June 17, 2018, at his home in Columbia, KY, at the age of 34 years, eight months, and 18 days.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eugene & Lucille Burns and Paul & Dorothy Curry

Brandon is survived by:
  • His parents: Barney & Mary Anna Curry Burns of Columbia, KY

  • His wife: Ashley Claywell Burns of Columbia, KY

  • His daughter: Chloe Lanz of Columbia, KY

  • A son expected in August 2018: Jordan Parker Burns

  • One brother/uncle: Randy Burns and wife Miranda of Columbia, KY

  • "Grandmother": Maggie Ruth Anderson of Marrowbone, KY

  • Aunts and Uncles: Paula & Jeff Pyles of Greensburg, KY; Edna & Lonny Karnes of Columbia, KY; Stevie & Robin Burns of Burkesville, KY; and Rondal & Rebekah Burns of Texas

  • Nieces: Chezlee Bardin, Briley and Madisyn Burns

  • Father-in-law: Justin Claywell of Columbia, KY

  • Father-in-law & Mother-in-law: Kim Hadley and Jeff Hadley of Columbia, KY

  • Sister-in-law: Kristy Claywell of Columbia, KY

  • Grandparents-in-law: J C Coomer, Ralph and Bobbie Hadley

  • And a host of other family and friends
