Free Tipping winds up - It was smooth and successful Early report: Over five tractor trailer loads removed from county in two-day period Click on headline for complete story By Vicky Pike, Adair County Solid Waste Advisory Committee Free tipping days have been a tremendous success this year. Judge Michael Stephens was there early to see things were running smooth. Doug Riley, supervisor of the transfer station, reported between five and six tractor trailer loads being collected in the two day effort. Also assisting was David Smith from Solid Waste Department and Magistrate Harold Burton from Adair Fiscal court. And a big THANK YOU to the Adair Regional Jail inmates who were the key to getting folks unloaded quickly and out. Doug Riley said this was the best crew ever. This year's collection has been great with no long lines and short wait times to unload. This was due to the efforts of many folks including the Adair Fiscal Court, Judge Michael Stephens, the solid waste committee members and the Adair Regional Jail inmates. Also to Linda Waggener, Adair Solid Waste Advisory Committee and Columbia City Councillor, for going with me to check on the progress yesterday and keeping readers of ColumbiaMagazine.com updated on the collection. Thank you to all who took their time to clean up and bring your items to the Mid State transfer station. Victoria Pike Solid waste advisory committee This story was posted on 2018-06-09 14:39:53
