Burton Garbage is high bidder for City's surplus 1999 GMC Packer

By Ed Waggener

In a very brief session this evening, with Mayor Curtis Hardwick presiding and City Clerk Rhonda Loy acting as session recorder, the Columbia City Council met and opened the single sealed bid for a Columbia Sanitation surplus 1999 garbage truck.

Mayor Curtis Hardwick opened and read the only bid, for $4,800, from an Adair County firm, Burton Garbage, owned by Billy Burton.

On a motion by Councilor Pam Hoots, with a second by Councilor Mark Harris, those present accepted the bid, unanimously, with one stipulation: that the City of Columbia Sanitation Department decal be removed before it is released to the new owner. Councilors Craig Dean, Linda Waggener, and Craig Lasley joined in the voice affirmation. Councilor Ronald Rogers was not present. The council adjourned immediately after, at approximately 5:05pmCT, on a motion by Craig Dean.
