Adair County's Bryan Blair is new CEO of York (PA) Fair Bryan Blair is the son of Gayle and the late Fred Blair and the grandson of Louise and the late Robert Spires and the late Cecil and Hazel Blair all of Adair County, KY. York Fair is the 31st largest fair in the nation with almost 570,000 in attendance annually. It is also "America's Oldest Fair," having been founded in 1765. York, PA - The York County Agricultural Society is pleased to announce that Bryan Blair, General Manager, Elkhart County 4-H Fair and Agricultural Exposition, Goshen, IN, will be joining the staff of the York Fair and York Expo Center as Chief Operating Officer and will assume the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) position upon the retirement of current CEO Michael Froehlich, December 31 of this year. Bryan Blair became General Manager of the Elkhart County 4-H Fair and Agricultural Exposition in November of 2014 following a six year stint at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville where he was an Expositions Administrator managing Sponsorships for the National Farm Machinery Show, Kentucky State Fair and the North American International Livestock Exposition. Prior to joining the Kentucky Exposition Center staff in 2009, Blair had served as a charter board member and Past President of the Taylor County Fair in Campbellsville, KY. Blair served as a Program and News Director, as well as a Sports Information Director at Campbellsville University in Kentucky- providing him with extensive experience and knowledge in broadcasting and media communications. Blair was also named the Kentucky Fair Person of the year in 2001 by the Kentucky Association of Fairs and Horse Shows. The Elkhart County 4-H Fair is one of the largest 4-H fairs in the nation with an annual attendance of 200,000. While the Fair focuses on 4-H involvement, it also includes major concerts along with rodeos, tractor pulls, a demolition derby, large midway, hundreds of commercial exhibits, and a wide variety of food concessions. Located in Goshen, IN, the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds is situated on 380 acres and features 60 buildings and is a full service regional event center through the year. The facility hosts over a dozen RV Rallies annually along with consumer trade shows and other similar events. Blair stated, "My background in the industry provides me with a very good understanding of how a strongly supported Fair is part of the fabric that weaves a community together. For many years the people of York and southern Pennsylvania have taken a great deal of pride and ownership in this Fair. I respect and admire that, and will be doing everything I can to continue the strong traditions of the York Fair while also working to bring a balance of fresh and new approaches that will keep the York Fair relevant for generations to come." Blair plans to focus on heavily promoting the York Expo Center and continuing to expand the presence of the facility within the community and region through maintaining existing business and pursuing new opportunities as well. Outgoing CEO Michael Froehlich is completing 40 years in the Fair and Expositions industry having served in leadership roles with the Ohio State Fair and Ohio Expo Center; the Georgia National Fair & Agricenter, and the past 10 years with the York Fair and York Expo Center. During Froehlich's tenure the York Fairgrounds has evolved into a year-round Exposition and Convention Center for York County. A transition plan to insure continuity in leadership and excellence is important for the continued success of the York Fair and York Expo Center. Board Members of the York County Agricultural Society look forward to Blair joining the team. This story was posted on 2018-05-09 14:31:11
