Alice Marie Murphy, 79, Adair County, KY (1939-2018)

Marie was a member of Hadley Community Church and a homemaker, she greatly enjoyed the Christmas season. She was a member of a large, respected Adair County, KY, family, the daughter of the late John Edwin and Eva Lee Janes Sneed. her husband, Charles Murphy, survives. She leaves 11 direct and one step living descendants.

Alice Marie Murphy, age 79, of Columbia, KY, passed away Sunday May 6, 2018 at 5:18pmCT, at her home after several weeks illness.

Funeral service will be at 11amCT, Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Elbert Hadley the officiating clergy. Interment in the Antioch Cemetery, Wheeler Hill Road, Sparksville, KY. The family request visiting after 1pmCT on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.



Pallbearers: Derrek Murphy, Christopher Brown, Jim Sneed, and Tim Sneed, David Sneed and Danny Sneed.

Alice Marie Murphy, 79, Adair County, KY (1939-2018)

She was born March 24, 1939 in Gradyville, Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late John Edwin and Eva Lee Janes Sneed of Adair County, KY. She died Sunday, May 6, 2018, in Columbia, Adair County, KY, at the age of 79 years, one month, and 12 days.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Catherine Sue Eller on March 19, 2017, one brother J.T. Sneed

She is survived by her husband; Charles Murphy of Columbia, KY, and the following:
  • Two sons: J. Edwin Brown of LaGrange, KY; and James Alan Brown of Columbia, KY

  • One stepson: Andrew Murphy of Glasgow, KY

  • Three brothers: Lester Sneed of Columbia, KY Charles Sneed of Russell Springs, KY, Titus Sneed of Justice, IL

  • One sisters: Velma Walls of Glasgow, KY

  • Four grandchildren: Candace Wooten, Dawn Marie Eller, Christopher Alan Brown, Jessica Ann (Justin) Gose

  • Five great grandchildren: Justine Walker, Jacob Hughes, Madison Wooten, Bradley Eller, Damien Branham
Marie was a member of Hadley Community Church and a homemaker, she greatly enjoyed the Christmas season.
