Charles & Jeanne Marshburn's are host to blended ISP family Marshburns started with two students, from Prague and Ireland. Since then they welcomed numerous other students and charmed everyone with their warmth, wit and overall love, providing opportunities to get off campus, enjoying KY nature, go kayaking, cook together, to simply sit and talk and many more things a family does together. Click on headline for complete story with photo(s) By Sabine Eastham, Director of International Student Programs at LWC Back in August 2015, Charles Marshburn read an article on ColumbiaMagazine.com, regarding a wonderful opportunity - the International Student Programs at the Lindsey Wilson College was seeking host parents for their friendship program. He decided to make a phone call to obtain more information – that changed a lot of things for a lot of people. He and his lovely wife Jeanne signed on to become host parents. Both attended a two hour orientation where they met senior host parents and mingled with other "newbies." August 2015 marked the beginning of the Marshburn era. They met their first students during a host family picnic, Aiden Bossan from Prague and Jack Meegan from Ireland. Since then they welcomed numerous other students and charmed everyone with their warmth, wit and overall love, providing opportunities to get off campus, enjoying KY nature, go kayaking, cook together, to simply sit and talk and many more things a family does together. On May 1, 2018, the International Student Programs held their annual host family dinner where the Marshburns shared another meal with their "kids" and had the opportunity to gather for this great picture, taken by Alex Busch, a student from Wurselen - Germany. “I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples” . . . the Marshburns, like everyone in our friendship program, are truly creating a riptide! We could not have such a thriving program without you!! THANK YOU!! - Sabine Eastham This story was posted on 2018-05-04 15:18:05
