Click on headline for complete story By Chris Wells, LWC Sports Information Director COLUMBIA, KY - Lindsey Wilson football ends its spring season on Friday night, April 19, 2018, with the annual Blue-White Scrimmage at Blue Raider Stadium, Lindsey Wilson Sports Complex, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY. "We always enjoy getting the opportunity to play in front of our fans at Blue Raider Stadium," Lindsey Wilson football Chris Oliver said. "As usual, we'll have a controlled scrimmage that features a handful of game situations. "We've had a productive winter and spring," Oliver added. "We look forward to finishing strong at Friday's scrimmage." Admission is free, but fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to help support the Campus Kitchen at Lindsey Wilson College. Launched in September 2016, the Campus Kitchen at Lindsey Wilson College was the 54th Campus Kitchen to join the growing national network. At Campus Kitchens across the country, students lead efforts to combat food waste and hunger by collecting surplus food from on-campus dining halls, community gardens, restaurants, and grocery stores and transforming it into healthy meals. The Campus Kitchen at Lindsey Wilson College serves nearly 70 individuals in Adair County on a weekly basis, including families and the elderly. Lindsey Wilson volunteers have recovered over 6,300 pounds of food and have served over 3,800 meals to those in need since its inception. "One of the things we look forward to every year is the opportunity to impact our local community with our Spring Food Drive," Oliver said. "All of the food we collect on Friday night will be donated to our Campus Kitchen initiative here at LWC, which ends up helping numerous people right here in Adair County. We appreciate the generosity of our fans with this effort." Friday's scrimmage represents the 15th and final practice of the spring for the Blue Raiders in preparation for the upcoming 2018 season. Lindsey Wilson finished the 2017 season with an 11-1 record and reached its fourth consecutive NAIA Football Championship Series. The Blue Raiders were ranked No. 5 in NAIA Football Coaches' Postseason Top-25 Poll. This story was posted on 2018-04-19 10:28:23
