LWC Men's Track & Field wins own invitational 24 Mar 2018

Lindsey Wilson Men's Track & Field claims five event victories, accumulates 111 Team Points in meet at Blue Raider Stadium

COLUMBIA, KY - (Sat 24 Mar 2018) - The Lindsey Wilson men's outdoor track & field team took home five individual event wins along with posting the top team score during the final day of competition at the LWC Invitational on Saturday at Blue Raider Stadium.



Lindsey Wilson accumulated 111 total team points throughout the two-day event, topping the next closest team by 16 points.

Levi Owens posted a pair of track wins on Saturday. He first won the one mile run event with a time of 4:39.10 to start his day, and followed with a victory in the 3,200 meter run after crossing the line in 10:04.68.

The final track event victory came in the last race of the weekend after the Blue Raider quartet of Drew Morgan, Christian Whitehead, Christian Davis and Bryson Morris won the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:36.87.

Two victories came from field events, including the triple jump and shot put.

Anthony Thompson won the triple jump event with a leap of 14.12 meters to top the field of 10 competitors. Then Stephane Dasse won the shot put event with a toss of 14.72 meters.

Lindsey Wilson student-athletes added a number of top-five placements throughout the weekend.

Marcus Terrell and Trajon Hall placed third and fourth, respectively, in the 800 meter run as Hall took fourth in the one mile run and Terrell placed fifth. Cameron Doss added a fifth place behind Thompson in the triple jump. Timothy Higgs took home a runner-up finish in the discus throw with his toss of 33.21 meters. Corey Hinkle placed third out of 20 in the javelin throw with his toss of 43.60 meters and JeRon Thornton placed fifth in the hammer throw at 37.74 meters.
